INSTRUCTIONS FOR LOADING FIRMWARE INTO THE D-SYNC

First extract the .syx file from the zip that contains it.

When updating firmware - ensure you do not have the output connected - only MIDI In & Power

Firmware upgrade must be started within 10 seconds of power up -
otherwise it will be ignored

Whilst THE MIDI firmware is being received the LED will flash yellow (long on - short off)
When the whole dump has been received the LED will stay on (at this
stage it is copying from temporary storage to the main program memory)
when the copy process is complete, the LED will flash again slowly
(evenly) *green* to indicate success.

If the dump was corrupt, the LED will flash fast in *red*

DO NOT REMOVE POWER FROM THE D-SYNC UNTIL THE LED IS FLASHING EVENLY
(OR FAST IN THE CASE OF A CORRUPT DUMP) - THE WHOLE PROCEDURE COULD TAKE
UP TO TWO MINUTES OR MORE DEPENDING ON YOUR HARDWARE

IF YOU UNPLUG POWER TOO EARLY THE RESULT WILL BE A DEAD UNIT THAT WILL
NEED TO BE RETURNED TO US FOR RE-FLASHING BY HARDWARE.

----------------------------

Recommended programs for performing the firmware upgrade are as follows:
For PC we recommend MIDI-OX see note #1 below
For MAC we recommend SNOIZE see note #2 below

----------------------------

Note #1 - UPGRADING USING MIDI-OX (PC) [Midi-Ox version 7.0 or earlier]

http://www.midiox.com

You will need to set up the SysEx buffers as follows:

In MIDI-OX go to
Options
       Configure Buffers

set the Low Level Output Buffers
Size = 40000 (note you will have to type this in manually)
Num  = 2

Click OK

If you don't set the buffers as above you will get corrupt data
indicated by the fast flashing LED when you try to install

----------------------------

Note #2 - UPGRADING USING SNOIZE (MAC)

http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian

No special setup required for this program on a MAC

FIRMWARE VERSION CHANGE INFORMATION

-----------------------------------

dsyn1003 14/08/2015

- adds ability to handle sync-48 for both sync IN and sync OUT.
The 'active' LED lights red in Sync-48 mode (green in Sync-24 mode)
When clock data is being received or transmitted the LED will flash yellow, although it will flash
too fast to see unless the tempo is really low - for higher tempos it will just appear yellow

Use the SysEx strings included in the zip file to set the appropriate mode:

dsyn-set-sync48-mode.syx
dsyn-set-sync24-mode.syx

These can be sent at any time and are not restricted to the 10 second window of the firmware update
